About TEDxVail

Since its inaugural event in 2010, TEDxVail has become a major venue for spreading ideas & inspiring change. With a million views online, our TEDxVail Talks help propel ideas throughout Vail and out into the world.

Speakers have included artists, innovators, musicians, scholars, business owners, and brilliant thinkers from all walks of life. This year we will host 25 speakers.

We are all volunteering: speakers, team, partners – no one gets paid for their work.

TED, Technology, Entertainment & Design, is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California in 1984, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

If a lecture is a cup of joe, then a TEDxTalk is a double shot of expresso. TEDxTalks are a way to condense ideas into compelling brief talks that spread worthy big ideas. We’ve discovered that these short talks can have a long lasting impact.

Space is an inspirational concept that allows you to dream big.’ – Peter Diamandis

Social Spaces are creative, interactive play spaces that are designed to awaken your senses, and provide another level to connect with others. You’ll find Social Spaces at all of our events and conferences.Ignite your inner changemaker by suggesting a social space Xperience you’ve been wanting to have in Vail Valley.

‘Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.’ – Helen Keller

Adventures are rare, behind-the scenes, fun activities with local leaders, residents and you, Xtending the TEDx experience before and beyond the event. Adventures connect you with your audience as friends before the big moment you step on the Battle Mountain Theater Stage.

Our TEDxVail team creates independently organized TED events operated under a license from TED that brings people together to share an intimate TED-like experience. We are fully supported by community-minded volunteers who collaborate from around the globe including, Chicago, DC, Santa Fe, Atlanta, Boulder, Denver, Sun Valley, LA, Basalt, Boston, Avon, Eagle, Vail, and as far as Alaska.  Their continued support, regardless of time zone, is the cornerstone that makes our Xperiences possible. Thanks, Team!
